I will be debating Mike Licona on the Resurrection of Jesus at Washburn University (1700 SW College Ave.) in
Topeka, Kansas, at 7pm on Thursday, February 11 (see meetup notice). The debate is sponsored by the Atheist Community of Topeka and Christian Challenge, and will be held in the Washburn Room of the Memorial Union. I'm not aware of any entry fee. I will be signing and selling my books afterward (around 9pm or so, give or take).
This debate will have a very different format from our 2004 debate in LA and thus won't be a repeat performance but something new and hopefully interesting and educational.
I will also be appearing the next day not too far from Topeka for the Kansas City Freethought community. That's Friday, February 12, 6p. Details now here.
Video of my debate with Mike Licona at Washburn U is also now available here.
Darn, I live in Hutchinson, Kansas but Topeka is a bit far to drive for a debate. Do you know if this debate is going to be streaming live on the web anywhere?

ROAD TRIP!
ReplyDeleteI'm the organizer for the Wichita Atheists meetup group (www.wichitaatheists.com), and am trying to gauge interest in carpooling to Topeka to see the debate. I've also emailed the Wichita State Christian Challenge group that I and another member used to attend, and asked if they're interested in going and carpooling. Still awaiting a response on that one. I'm actually not sure whether the WSU group is related to the Washburn group, but I did ask.
ReplyDeleteIf you're interested in carpooling with us, please go to our meetup site, and click the "email me" link under my picture in the left column. It will require that you be signed up for the meetup.com site, but you don't have to be a member of our particular group to use the "email me" link. (The things we do to avoid spam bots... *sigh*)

I know you'll do well Richard and I can't wait to see the debate. I'm debating Dinesh D'Souza on February 9th so let's get 'em both.
ReplyDelete"Let's get 'em both"?? Take a chill-pill, John!

I think I can make it.

Kansas City is not close enough. I demand you come to St. Louis!
ReplyDeleteThat is all...
Addendum to my first comment about carpooling from Wichita...
ReplyDeleteI set up an email address for anyone to contact me regarding carpooling from Wichita: carriercarpool2010@wichitaatheists.com .
And as promised, I added it to my meetup group's calendar, here.

My talk on Friday will be in Olathe, Kansas instead of Kansas City, Missouri. Details now here.
